Jeremy Annear Limited Edition Silk Screen Print 'Enigma' 29cm x 17cm (unframed)
Jeremy Annear is a highly celebrated British abstract artist rooted in the European Modernist tradition with a background in the St Ives Modernism of his native Cornwall. Jeremy has been recently described by the art historian David Boyd Haycock as being committed to Brancusi's famous maxim: 'simplicity is complexity resolved'.
'Enigma' is one of a four-piece series that was printed by Jeremy in collaboration with master printmaker David D'Silva of D'Silva Editions. We are delighted to have the other pieces 'Dream Time' 'Tempo' and 'Acrobat' also for sale. The series offers a rare insight into Jeremy's work on paper which has always informed his larger works.
Unlike many of his works in which one can sense the influence of the Cornish landscape on Jeremy's work, 'Enigma' is a consummate expression of colour and form which displays the influence (like seen in 'Dream Time') of a period spent painting in the Australia where the strong indigenous art tradition was not without influence on the artist's work as well as the fundamental influence of cubism and painters such as Georges Braque on the artist.
This beautiful traditionally hand-produced silk screen print is printed on Somerset soft velvet paper 300g with hand torn deckled edges in an edition of just 40. Individually signed, titled and editioned in pencil by the artist 'Enigma' is a stunning decorative addition to any wall on its own or with one or more of the pieces of the series.
