This exquisite monoprint on fine print-making paper made from Thai Kozo (mulberry) forms part of a small series of uniquely different monoprints entirely produced by hand and signed by the celebrated artist Jeremy Annear. Known more recently for his works which delve into a place of 'pure abstraction', the minimalist abstract rendering of 'la baleine' (the whale) is a rare figuration in the artist's work more in keeping with an earlier period of work however this particular monoprint strongly displays Jeremy Annear’s roots in the European modernist school and of St Ives.
